TLDR: Great place definitely should go

The place is very atmospheric. The menu is simple and neat. My server was very friendly and very good. He checked on me often. He brought out water and bread with an olive oil basil dip that was quite fresh and tasty. I spoke with him a bit and he told me this was the only restaurant in Memphis that flew its fish directly from the coast. Never frozen, always fresh. That’s a good start.

So I ordered the Mussels Josephine as an appetizer. They took a little while to come but the restaurant wasn’t too full so I’m guessing this dish is a little outside of their wheelhouse. When it did arrive though the dish was presented quite well. There were the mussels, tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and a butter-white wine reduction that was divine. The dish was very well executed however it is quite large and probably best to share with another person. As the waiter told me most of their appetizers are quite big and meant to be shared.

I then ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with broccoli and potatoes au gratin. The bass was delicious, flaky but firm, no pin-bones and a beautiful sear. It came with a choice of sauce and I originally picked the lemon butter but I did not like it. It was bland and mostly just butter. But then my waiter brought two other sauces for me to try. One was an Asian inspired sauce with soy sauce and sweet chilies. The sauce was good but too salty and overtook the flavor of the fish. The other sauce was the same as the dip that had come previously with the bread and it went great with the fish. Not too strong but just enough flavor. Honestly though, the fish stands on its own and you could do without the sauce. With the fish came the best broccoli I have ever tasted sautéed with a sweet sauce and the potatoes au gratin, which due to the lack of any “gratin” aspect they were simply mashed potatoes to me.

Finally, I ordered the Chocolate Crème Brulee, which again was quite large for one person but very rich and tasty. I would have liked a harder more cooked crust but it was good. However, half of the dish was covered by heavy whipped cream that was tasteless, heavy, and really not necessary on the dish. It seems to me they added it as an afterthought like someone adds ice cream to a brownie.

Aside from the small imperfections (which are probably due to my untrained palate). The place is great. Good atmosphere and a great place to bring your partner for a romantic night out. However, the place can be pricey and I would suggest you dress nice for the occasion. All in all this is by far the best place I’ve been to in Memphis.

My husband Ra and myself both went to Bonefish Grill to celebrate New Year's Eve. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by Chandler along with Charlie. They were a dynamic duo and made us feel so welcomed. After about 5 minutes of sitting there, the bar manager Nikki came by and she was extremely delightful. I will honestly say that we have never been to an upscale restaurant that was so warm and friendly. My husband and myself didn't have the energy to go celebrating. However, Nikki, Chandler, and Charlie really helped us bring in the new year feeling awesome. These guys were awesome and we will definitely be back!!!
